Our Mission Statement
It the mission of ACT I to enhance and dignify the quality of life of our culturally diverse aging and disabled population through the collaboration, partnership and promotion of our member organizations and by supporting the education of individuals in the health and eldercare fields.
About Us
The Aging Community Team (ACT I) is a non-profit, partnership organization comprised of area businesses and individuals who are dedicated to serving and servicing the senior and disabled population in the greater Coachella Valley.
Founded in 1996 by a group of local business leaders who recognized the importance of, and need for collaboration and cooperation among the various industries and businesses servicing the senior population, ACT I has a three-fold purpose:
- To enhance the
caliber of services for seniors and the disabled
within the Coachella Valley
- To facilitate and
encourage the collaboration of area businesses and
organizations serving the senior population in area
(through regular monthly mixers/events)
- To promote and
support the education and professional development of
individuals pursuing careers in the health and
eldercare fields (through scholarships).
The senior population is one of the fastest growing segments/demographics of the Coachella Valley. To meet the growing and changing needs of this diverse group of people, ACT I works to enhance and develop the quality of both the services and individuals serving these individuals.
ACT I accomplishes this in the following ways:
- Coordinating monthy networking
events for member organizations and their staff
- Promoting our member
organizations' services/expertise both to each other
and to the community
- Encouraging intra-agency
collaboration and communication between member
organizations
- Supporting the
development/education of individuals pursuing careers
in the fields of health and eldercare through
educational scholarships and access to industry
professionals
- Promoting standards of
business and operation for our members who work with
and for the seniors and disabled in our local
community through fair and balanced industry panels
and a universal code of ethics for our members
- Supporting and encouraging the
development and growth of new services and businesses
serving seniors in the community
- Enhancing member education and
understanding of the growing/changing senior and
community needs by facilitating educational events,
expert panels, and networking opportunities
ACT I can only achieve its mission and goals through the consistent, active participation of its membership at the monthly networking meetings and support of ACT I events.
Leadership
ACT I is an all-volunteer organization governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of community and business leaders who currently serve the local senior or disabled community in various industries and local businesses. Board members are elected by the organization's membership and serve two-year terms.
Funding
ACT I is a 501c3, tax-exempt
non-profit organization. All funding is received through
private donations, membership dues and special events.
Because we have no paid staff, all the money raised goes
directly to our scholarship fund and community events.
